FAQ
Ground coffee, once opened, retains its freshness for about 7–10 days if properly stored. After this period, it gradually loses aroma and intensity.
It is recommended to store it in an airtight container, preferably in the refrigerator or in a cool, dry place away from light and heat sources.
Yes, you can, but espresso grind is finer than the ideal grind for moka. It may result in some sediment in the moka and produce a more intense and full-bodied taste.
“Best before” refers to the minimum durability date (MDD), meaning the date until which the product retains its optimal qualities of flavor, texture, and nutritional value, provided it is stored correctly. After this date, the product may lose some characteristics but remains safe to consume and does not need to be discarded immediately. This label applies to long-shelf-life products like pasta, rice, biscuits, and preserves, unlike the “use by” date, which indicates safety and potential risk if exceeded.
“100% Arabica” means the blend is made exclusively from Coffea Arabica beans, with no Robusta. Pellini coffee, as a company choice, never offers single origins but always blends, as the distinctive skill of the Pellini family lies in creating blends that balance different dimensions: Aroma, Creaminess, Intensity.
Arabica (Coffea Arabica) is the most appreciated coffee variety in the world for its finesse and aromatic complexity.
In the cup, Arabica stands out for its rich and multifaceted aromatic profile: fruity, floral, honey, cocoa, or citrus notes alternate elegantly, offering a refined sensory experience. Its acidity is lively and pleasant, while the body is lighter than Robusta.
Arabica contains about half the caffeine of Robusta, contributing to its sweeter taste. The crema in espresso tends to be lighter and thinner, but compact.
It is the ideal variety for those seeking a refined and aromatic coffee, especially suitable for people sensitive to caffeine or for afternoon and evening coffee.Robusta is the most widespread coffee variety in the world alongside Arabica.
From a sensory perspective, Robusta is known for its strong and intense flavor. In the cup, it develops a very full body with a dense, dark crema. On the palate, it reveals more bitter and earthy notes, often woody, less complex and fragrant than Arabica. Its acidity is very low, almost absent, while the perception of strength and intensity is pronounced.
Robusta contains almost twice as much caffeine as Arabica. This contributes to its more bitter taste and the stronger energy boost it provides.
It is particularly suitable for breakfast or milk-based preparations.- Ristretto → less caffeine because the extraction is shorter.
- Regular → standard amount of caffeine.
- Lungo → generally contains more caffeine, as water passes through the coffee for longer and extracts more.
For a healthy adult, up to 3–4 espresso shots per day are recommended (about 300–400 mg of caffeine). More than that may cause insomnia, nervousness, or rapid heartbeat. However, each person has their own sensitivity.
- Mayo Clinic: “Up to 400 milligrams (mg) of caffeine a day seems safe for most adults.”
- Harvard T.H. Chan – The Nutrition Source: “The U.S. FDA considers 400 milligrams (about 4 cups brewed coffee) a safe amount of caffeine for healthy adults.”
